One Hour Swim Wrapup … USMS registration … SC Zones … Membership Directory … Workout Schedule Notes and Changes … Alcatraz Invitational Update … Team Gear

Fantastic job, once again, on all our One Hour swims for 2008!!  I am missing about 8 people’s paperwork, but we are going to hit our goal of 75 people and beat last year’s team total of 280,000 yards.  Great Job!!!  If you live out of town and swam, please let me know, in case I can need you on a relay somewhere.  A few early notable swims:  Rosana swam Butterfly for the entire hour, bettering last year’s Fly swim distance by 100 yds, Israel swam twice, 1st-Free and 2nd-Back, Jo swam Breaststroke, Sharon is our winner of the Steady-Eddie award by matching last year’s swim exactly at 4425,  Randy is our Big Kahuna Award for the biggest yard gain with 495 yds, and Shawn stepped up to the plate, swimming on the last day as our very last swimmer, with a low grade fever and chills, taking it for the team, and still put out almost 3300 yards.

So…..now what I need to know is, that you have applied for your 2008 USMS registration.  That is a MUST DO on Friday.  I am submitting paperwork the following Friday.  Please see me to complete all entry forms and pay the $6 swim fee.

Now that the OHS is behind us, time to look forward to our next challenge.  That will be Zones held in our very own pool - Davis Natatorium, on the weekend of March 28-30.  We won it last year in Houston, so you know they will be seeking revenge to take it back.  The next 2 months will be focused on all four strokes and speed.  The swim meet will include all event distances and relays, so it is a must-fun-do for everyone.  We will continue to keep our base and work on distance on Wednesdays, of course.  Entries can be either sent in directly or mailed/emailed to me to enter thru my swim meet software program.

I am finishing up the directory.  Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know.  I’ve been saying that for 3 years now, but really, I think I can do it this time!  Honest!  I would like to include throughout the pages some quotes of inspiration that you find hits home for you.  I toss out weekly quotes all the time, finding them from millions of sources, but I rarely keep any around for my records.  I would love to get some back that you found to be a favorite or two.  Also, if you feel that your personal contact info may not be current, please shoot me an email within the week.  If you would like a business card size ad included inside the directory, for whatever you do, I need those ASAP and $10 to help offset printing costs.

Remember that Davis is canceled this Friday because of the TAPPS swim meet.

We have been allowed to swim at the JCC 6:00 a.m. on Tues and Thur mornings to offset the lock-out of the UTSA pool for Feb and Mar.  This is available to anyone on the team, so we now can offer Mon-Fri 6:00 a.m. at one location.  Our training plan will follow that of the 8:30 and 12:00 groups.

Mon - Quality Wake-up Call for the Week
Tue - IM Training my Butt Off - all 4 strokes used throughout
Wed - Dare D Distance
Thur - Is it finally a break for Recovery Day?
Fri - Coach’s Choice: Always a personal favorite to scare the hell out of anyone.  But hey, you’ve got the weekend to rest, right?

In checking out Alcatraz swim, they are up to 400 of the 600 allowed.  Does anyone know Don Hollaran from San Antonio?  He’s on the list and we’d love for him to know about the team, if he doesn’t belong to anyone.

Next week, I will have with me shirts, suits, coupons and paperwork for the team.  Please allow some time one day to visit with me after practice.

Catch ya’ in the water,
Susan
