Weekly Updates

Alcatraz … Dues Payment … Team Gear … One Hour Swim … SC Zones … SC Nationals … Workout Schedule Changes … Valentine’s Day Reminder … Josh Davis Honored.

Looking ahead for the Alcatraz Invitational on Sept 20…We have 14 entries thus far….Muffin, Claire, Bill (and son), Susan (and 2 sons), Henry, Buz (and sister), Lesa (and daughter), Cesar, and Steve W. There are 420 of the 600 slots now filled. You have about a month to decide if you’d like to join us before the event closes because of numbers. We plan to fly up into SF on Thursday/Friday. Team Dinner Friday night. Swim Saturday morning. Enjoy the day in San Francisco. Tour around the area. Home Sunday/Monday. I am making team arrangements at a hotel nearby. Looks like I can get rooms for the group at $199, otherwise current going rate would be $269. Great location, just a few blocks to everything, and we can walk to the wharf, swim event and restaurant. I will need confirmation from you shortly if you are interested and need to know if you are coming in Thurs/Fri leaving Sun/Mon.

Okay, growing pains with our online payment system. People were not able to reenter info or make payments without having to run into the annual fee again. We have that cleared up now. I need all of you to go back in the system and click on the months that you wish to have the auto-payment set up for. You will not be charged (unless you wish) for the entire year. The system is unable to auto-bill for February unless you click on it to allow charges to be applied. From that time forward, you will be billed monthly and you will not have to log on to do so, as long as you have checked off the months ahead of time.

I have also added a Zones option payment button. You can now, email me events/times you wish to enter, log on and pay online, and you’re done! You do not have to pay for relays at this time. Meet entry info can be found here:

I’ve really enjoyed bringing all the shirts, suits, gear, and, etc., items to the pool this week. My favorite expressions have been…
10 - How much for the team pins?
9 - I need a new cap
8 - Can I order sweats?
7 - I love the new shirts!
6 - The team suit makes me look skinny.
5 - Oops! Can you charge my account?
4 - What is all this? Are you having a garage sale?
3 - Were we supposed to pay something?
2 - I know I paid a lot of money online, but I don’t know it was for!
…and the number one reason that I love sending out emails every week…
1 - I didn’t know about this, I haven’t read the emails, will you be selling this stuff again?

Last call on One Hour entry forms for Friday. I am putting them in the mail that afternoon. We need:
Copy of USMS cards - Amber, Jo, Tammy, Dawn, Kathy, Felix, Michael H., Shawn, Anne J., Buz, Ken, Barney, Joe, Chris Mc., Tito, Chuck O., David P., Lesa, Jackie, Tania, Steve W.
Paperwork Issues - Nancy, Steve W.

Information for SCY Nationals can be found on the USMS website. Remember, you can enter up to 3 events without qualifying. This is a great opportunity for everyone to participate in a national swimming experience and witness fantastic swimming. Please make your own hotel room reservations, the sooner is better. Many of you will be able to drive to this event. There will be 2 large parking garages on campus to use that are nearby.

San Antonio Senior Games (50+) entry forms are now available for pick-up at the JCC and Blossom pools. Please email me and I can mail you an entry form directly. There are numerous other sports besides swimming for you to enter.

This Friday, the noon workout will be held in the Walker pool because Regional Diving will be in the Davis pool. Swim Prelims will be Friday starting at 6:00 p.m. and Finals are set for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Come see the best high school swimming in San Antonio, with several Olympic Trails qualifiers in the mix.

Boys and Girls, remember that next Thursday is Valentine’s Day. Put it on your calendar for that special someone that you are supposed to do something for. A red swimsuit sounds good to me!

Reminder that Josh Davis will be honored by the San Antonio Sports Foundation Feb 15.

Catch ya’ in the water,
Susan
