Bring Me Butternuts … Independence Day Workout … Boerne Lake … Seeking Names for Aug 30 Swim and Party … Zones Deadline Approaching … Swim Classes for Youth … 5K Coming Up … Evening Practice at the J … July 6 Practice Scrubbed

Congratulations to Roberta Varela and Craig Kercher for completing their ButterNut Challenges.  Looking for more bodies.  Come on people!  This is your opportunities to shine!  There are only 46 people in the country that have completed this swim.  Be a part of history!  Blossom swimmers only have 3 weeks to step it up.  The pool will be closing shortly at that time.  The event director has now written me to ask what the heck is going on in Texas.  He wrote, “MOST is moving up the ladder and challenging NASTI for the most crazy people!!”  I told him that we were all going Nuts because of the Heat.

Lots of Fun today for our Red-White-Blue practice.  We finished up the day with Flag relays where we had to hold a US flag while competing, ensuring the flag remained dry, even as we did a flip turn.

I went up to the city of  Boerne this week and we can continue our Saturday Boerne Lake swims at 7:00 a.m.  So, I will be out there this week.  There is no charge for swimming at that time of the day.  For the triathletes in the group, please swim/bike prior to 9:00 a.m. and you can sneak out without a park fee.  The city will be monitoring the toll and parking lot as of 9:00 a.m. on Sat/Sun.

I would like to provide a lake swim and team party on Saturday, August 30.  Any creative names for the event will be appreciated.  I’m at the end of summer league and not feeling especially spunky for making up names for the swim.  I was going with Gator Man or Gator Bait, but looking to you for more ideas.  “Tastes like Chicken” sounded a little harsh considering the recent events.

You can still enter Zones with an additional $10 entry fee added.  All entries must be received next week.  Get those entries in by Monday.

I am offering a swim class for swimmers age 8-18 each Mon-Thu from 3:45-7:00 p.m. at the JCC.  Take advantage of this opportunity for a swim program that is a bridge between summer league and USA swimming.  You can call the JCC to find out more details at 302-6825.

Sunday, July 13 will be our 5 K Challenge at Blossom.  So far, I have 6 people signed up.  Chris, Glenn, Louis, Judy, Lynn, and Shelly.  Anyone is welcome, but I need to know ahead of time to make sure I have the timers set up.

Swimmers are welcome to our Mon-Thu 5:30 p.m. workouts at the JCC.  We need a few more bodies to make sure I can hold onto this time slot.

There will be no Sunday practice this week because of the holiday weekend.
